Dirty Pirates!

For those of you who do not know about Blackbeard's Cruises, (https://allstarliveaboards.com/blackbeards-vessel/), if you are into diving it is worth checking out. Don't worry, that is not an affiliate link, I am just trying to make your life easier... We spent a week diving in the Bahamas after road tripping from the east coast to the west coast of the states over 5 weeks and taking a 3 week trip to South Africa. Overall it was nearly 3 months of living the high life. We were doomed for productivity failure after that which was crap because we were broke by then and needed to work. Problem was, we hated working now. What a great cycle to get caught in! But it was all worth it, we made a lifetime of incredible memories with some amazing people. The bottom 2 photo's are from when I was working on Blackbeard's as a crew member. I was an engineer on the boat, which, as anyone who knows me will attest to, is a scary thought! I can barely hammer a nail in a 2 x 4, and now I was responsible for engine checks and repairs on the boat. With Blackbeard's you spend pretty much every night at anchor for a week so you need to be able to make do and fix anything with what you have on board. Fortunately we ha da great and knowledgeable captain for back up, good old Captain Red, just never piss him off because that makes for a bad day for everyone, crew and guests alike! To make the most of Blackbeard's you need to be OK with cozy living and wearing the same clothes for a week. They fit about 25 guests on crew onto a 65 foot sailboat so privacy is not a big thing. The best part is you get to dive 4 or 5 times a day weather and sea permitting! It was also after all this fun in the sun that we ended up flying back to Seattle for good and as I mentioned in a previous post, the day we landed it was dark by 4:30pm and snowing, not exactly what was promised on the brochure Lana!
